- Marshals, the new Yellowstone spinoff, premieres on March 1.
- Luke Grimes is joined by Riley Green in the new CBS series.
- The two met up for the Los Angeles premiere of the show.
The new series Marshals premieres on March 1, and the cast kicked off the Yellowstone spinoff with an event at The Autrey in Los Angeles. Star Luke Grimes, who is reprising his role as Kayce Dutton, was joined on the red carpet by co-stars Ash Santos, Moses Brings Plenty, Brecken Merrill, Arielle Kebbel, Gil Birmingham, Tatanka Mean, and country star Riley Green. The singer will be making his acting debut in the new show.
In a video shared on the official Marshals Instagram account, Luke introduced Riley, who played a few songs for the crowd, and poked fun at his mustachioed friend. Luke said, “Well, I had this whole bit I was going to do, where I met this struggling country musician in Nashville and he needed a job, so I gave him a job on our show. But he’s sitting here already so I can’t do that.”
Riley chimed in with, “Want me to leave and come back?”
Luke continued, “Ladies and gentlemen, it’s the annoyingly handsome, aggravatingly talented, 6′4″—you don’t deserve to be that tall. Hide your girlfriends, hide your wives, it’s Mr. Riley Green, everybody!”
Riley then performed some of his biggest hits, plus covers of “Dixieland Delight” and “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” for the crowd and brought Channing Wilson from CBS music competition The Road to sing with him.
Riley plays a character named Garrett on the series. Not much is known about the role, but Variety reports that Riley is expected to appear in several episodes. He said of his acting debut, “I’m so excited to be joining the cast of Marshals. Being on set with my buddy Luke Grimes made the experience even more memorable. This is my first go around in the acting space and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to this world.”
The show follows Kayce as he leaves the Yellowstone world behind and joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals. We’ll be tuning in on March 1 to see how Riley/Garrett fits into the story.
