This Tiny Home is Made Entirely of Salvaged Windows

Talk about a bird’s-eye view!

With 50 tree house transformations under her belt during her time on Treehouse Masters, it’s no surprise designer Christina Salway has her own picturesque perch: a “greenhouse meets tree house” constructed from roughly 75 salvaged windows. “I joke that the structure is a family quilt of salvaged windows, because they came from important people in our lives. We got windows from my husband’s aunt, my mom, an old landlord...” says Christina. Take a tour—no climbing required.

Whitewashed Interiors

The exterior and interior incorporate barnwood found on the property. Christina whitewashed the 10’ by 12’ interior with a shellac-based primer by Zinsser. “It has a great dusty chalk-white finish,” she says. Engineered wide-plank flooring is a pretty and practical pick, while assorted flat-weaves kilim rugs, antique botanical prints, and pops of sky blue bring color that blends seamlessly with the dreamy Catskills setting.

Clever Seating

Hung from the 12-foot ceiling, a handcrafted daybed swing serves as both a sofa and sleeping spot. A window ledge provides a low profile place to display artwork and photographs.

“A deck is a vital part of a tree house,” says Christina. “You want to be able to touch the branches, to feel the mist. When it snows, it’s like being in a cloud.”
